Abstract
* Real-time ex vivo ATP imaging revealed spaciotemporal ATP dynamics of metanephric kidneys during nephrogenesis.
* Glycolytic inhibition reduced cytosolic ATP levels in ureteric bud and cap mesenchyme cells and suppressed ureteric bud branching.
* Ureteric bud cells were highly dependent on glycolysis, exhibiting faster and more pronounced ATP reduction by glycolytic inhibition than cap mesenchyme cells.
